DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk for WildCER and Youth4Wild at BNHS\, Mumbai				\n				\n				\n				\n							\n							\n											\n													\n										Mumbai\n									\n								\n											\n													\n										10 May\, 2026\n									\n								\n											\n													\n										\n									\n						\n						\n				\n					\n				\n		\n					\n		\n				\n				\n					Highlights from the Event				\n				\n				\n				\n									The forest trails of the BNHS Conservation Education Centre came alive during a collaborative bird walk organized by the Ataavi College Chapter in partnership with Wild CER and Youth4Wild. Bringing together veterinary students and young birders\, the walk created a meaningful intersection between wildlife studies\, citizen science\, and field ornithology. The morning began on an exciting note with sightings of the elusive White-rumped Shama near the entrance\, followed by a rich soundscape of Greater Coucals\, Coppersmith and Brown-headed Barbets\, Red-vented and Red-whiskered Bulbuls\, and Purple and Purple-rumped Sunbirds echoing through the forest canopy. Calls of Grey Junglefowl and Indian Peafowl added to the immersive woodland atmosphere as participants moved deeper along the KT and Salim Ali trails\, where the dense forest and rhythmic hum of cicadas created moments of remarkable serenity.								\n				\n				\n		\n				\n				\n					Partnered with				\n				\n				\n				\n																														\n				\n				\n				\n				\n									As the group reached one of the highest viewpoints within the campus\, sweeping views of Vihar Lake unfolded beneath a dramatic aerial interaction between a Crested Serpent Eagle and a Black Kite circling overhead. The return trail produced memorable sightings of a Grey Hornbill gliding across the canopy\, along with Black Drongos and Indian Jungle Crows perched watchfully above the forest edge. The walk concluded quietly at the Bird Hide\, where patience was rewarded with a beautiful sighting of a Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher near a waterhole\, its vivid blue and apricot plumage standing out against the dark understory.
